Nye Parry: Concert Music Among works conceived primarily for concert presentation or home listening are both electroacoutic and instrumental compositions. Fuzzy Logic was commissioned by the LSO Discovery Project to combine their community gamelan group with professional musicians from the LSO and Ambisonic surround sound technology. It was premiered at LSO St Lukes in May 2005. Chanson was composed for the dB Ensemble and features the vocal talents of Steve Halfyard and the flute playing of Jeremy Woodruff. Inspired by the sound poetry of Ernst Jandl, Chanson also features a complex computer part programmed in Max/MSP which improvises along with the live performers. The Seasons is a continuous hour long cycle of compositions for eletronically manipulated sounds. The stasis of Summer and Winter are contrasted by the growth and decay of Spring and Autumn. The Museum was also the site of the installation Living Steam. Hear excerpt Lilacita is a purely instrumental work for Balinese Gamelan (Gong Kebyar). The result of a private commission for the group Lilacita, of which Nye is a founder member, the piece combines traditional techniques such as interlocking Kothekan patterns with western ideas such as three part cannons, breaking down the Gamelan into unusual subgroupings.
